“it hangs on a lot longer in the dry. Then when we get our first rain it’s the first one to get up and start boogying again.”
SF Stellar™ perennial ryegrass has outperformed any product Gilbert De Groot has trialled on his Paparoa dairy farm.
Gilbert and his wife Carol milk 450 cows as well as running about 100 yearling and heifer replacements.
They first trialled SF Stellar™ about three years ago, planting it in four different paddocks along with a number of other products. “I have found SF Stellar™ has been the one that’s beaten everything hand over fist,” Gilbert says.
“To me, SF Stellar™ takes a bit longer to disappear in the summer, it hangs on a lot longer in the dry. Then when we get our first rain it’s the first one to get up and start boogying again.”
“The cows love it too and do well on it. They eat it well and don’t leave a lot.”
This year the De Groots have put in 30 hectares of SF Stellar™ and are not using any other grasses. They plan to convert half of the farm to SF Stellar™ because of the results they have had.
“Robyn (East) has been really, really nice to deal with. My son is slowly taking over the farm and they get on really well. They (Seed Force™) are very good and easy to understand – they explain things very well.”
“I wouldn’t go anywhere else. All I have to do is ring up and Robyn’s out here. They’re giving us a good deal really,” Gilbert says.
